Seriously?

So I think my camera is on its last leg. Figures, as soon as I decide to start up posting photos, it decides to crap out. I'm hoping it's only the batteries (which were only a few months old and better versions of the old rechargeables I've previously had). I guess we'll see.

Starting Anew

I've been really busy with freelance and volunteer work lately, so my blog has been unfortunately put on the back burner for a loooooooong time now. After an invite from a friend to a blog networking event, I've decided to give it a go again.

Here are some shots from an AMAZING show I went to last October for Dead Man's Bones at Schuba's, with none other than Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields. As if Halloween couldn't get any better for me!

It's Thai appoved!

Within a week of adopting Hopey, our little black cat, I discovered this piece of art by Théophile Steinlen's "Lait Sterilise." The reason why it caught my eye is because the three cats in the photo look strikingly similar to our three cats, even down to the size of each! The photo below is of a watercolor reproduction painted by a member of Thai's foster family. It is such a special piece to us that we designed our living room around it. Thanks again Becky! You're so talented!

Of course, Thai licked it.

Not sure if we will be able to get a photo with all three of our cats by the painting, but we'll try!

New start

I have been contemplating starting my photo blog up again. Discussing art/design work with friends and seeing their work has really got me missing working on my own. I will definitely be updating it more regularly again. Hope you visit from time to time and check it out.

Here's two photos from a storm that rolled through back in July:

Mew! Mew!

That's, "Happy Birthday," in kitty language. Today is Lina's 3rd birthday. Good thing we still have our party streamers up from our band's photo shoot last January to celebrate.

Below is a clipping from Glancer Magazine. Thai won the monthly photo contest for May 2008. Let's hope he wins the yearly drawing for the $100 Petsmart gift card.

We are moving to a new apartment this weekend. Same complex, but a different building. Let's hope we don't have as much trouble there as we have in the past year at the current unit. We had another leak in the living room on Mother's Day. Luckily, it wasn't as bad a the first time it happened last August. The new apartment will be completely redone with new carpet, flooring, cabinets, sink faucets, kitchen appliances, etc., however, the best part to us is that we will have access to our balcony again and not have 6 days a week of drilling and working on the building. It will rock...we are already thinking of when to plan some BBQ's. Yay!

Poor Dusti

Over the weekend, Dusti, the only male giraffe at Brookfield Zoo, died due to a freak accident. Bones and I visited the zoo just the week before, where he shot these photos:

Dusti, is the one in the back left.

His baby, Arnieta, who just turned 1 year old on 1/17. Dusti is in the background of this shot as well, just behind his baby who is reaching up for a snack.

One year

Another Thai photo, but this is because one year ago today he had his bladder stone surgery. I can't imagine our home without him in it. Bones put it best by saying, "it would be a lot less fluffy around here." He's such a trooper!

Happy New Year to all!!

King of the Castle

My Dad got this cardboard Cat Castle for our cats since Thai LOVES boxes. I was surprised we actually got a photo with Lina and Hopey in/on the Cat Castle since Thai has officially claimed it as his. Meowy Christmas!!

Happy Belated Halloween

I recently remembered that I didn't post our Halloween photos from this year.

I am charging all my batteries now for the next three days of Christmas festivities we have to attend, so hopefully I will get some fun ones then.

A little photo fun

Last week for work I did a photo shoot for our annual report. I took a few test shots before it started. I liked this one, so I thought I would play around a bit with photoshop.

Photo One: No retouching

Photo Two: Some Auto Color and Level correction

Photo Three (my favorite): Equalize, Curves, Contrast, etc

Change up

Since I am obviously not good at doing the daily posting thing anymore, I am just going to due a weekly posting. Who knows, maybe I will get back to the "365" in the future, but at least this gives a procrastinator, like myself, a little leeway. This next week will start my new posting process. Until then, here are a mish-mash of photos from the past few months. Hope you all had a relaxing weekend!

My desk and view! That's Michigan Avenue down there.

Doesn't get any better than working in the city!

Happy Birthday Ted! Bones baked him a cake. It also happened to be "good things happen to good people day."

Co-worker brought in these amazing cupcakes from a bakery downtown. Even the cake part was good, which is usually the part I eat first to save the frosting for last. YUM!

I found this card at Target while shopping for baby shower cards.

Bones made me a "mickey mouse" eggs in a nest for breakfast. It looks like a panda.

We met Mike Ditka a few month back. We were having dinner at the Public House next door and then saw this event on the Sal's sign next door. My brother's birthday was coming up so we stopped in and had Ditka sign a bottle of wine he was selling/signing as a gift.

I came across this on the way to work last month. It was for Chicagoween.
